The State Group is based in Vancouver, Canada and controls several companies. Mr. Lutfur Rahman Khan is the Founder of the State Group of Companies.

State Group is an active investor and operator in the North American oil and gas sector through private companies prior to forming State Petroleum Corporation to target international hydrocarbon development opportunities.

Through State Petroleum, a 12.2 million acre oil concession, previously held by Chevron, was acquired in Sudan. Company drilled some 70 successful wells which took the Heglig and Unity oil fields from the 150 million barrels as defined by Chevron to 950 million barrels of proved reserves and P3 reserves were over 3 billion barrels. To transport the oil to Port Sudan a consortium consisting of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Malaysian National Petroleum Company (Petronas) and State Petroleum was formed to build a 1,500 km., 28 inch export pipeline from the Heglig/Unity oil fields to Port Sudan. Mr. Khan became chairman of the consortium. The successful completion of the pipeline was transformative for Sudan producing 400,000 bpd prior to the separation of Sudan into North and South Sudan. Company also created several hundred new jobs.

State Group was actively involved in humanitarian work and social development. A 40-bed hospital was built in Heglig, Sudan and three fully equipped ambulances were provided. In addition, several water wells were drilled to provide clean water to the local Heglig area population. Several schools have also been built by the Group in Africa.

State Group is supported by a team of internationally experienced geophysicists, engineers, geologists and financial experts.
